In October 2019, UNICEF was the first UN organization to announce that it would henceforth also accept, hold and disburse donations in the form of the cryptocurrencies Ether and Bitcoin via the UNICEF Crypto-Currency Fund. Under the structure of the UNICEF Cryptocurrency Fund, contributions will be held in their cryptocurrency of contribution and granted out in the same cryptocurrency. Among other things, it finances open source technologies that benefit children and young people around the world.
Now the UNICEF’s Office of Innovation and Division of Financial and Administrative Management is seeking EOI from cryptocurrency custodians for the provision of custodian services for cryptocurrencies contributed to UNICEF in support of their CryptoFund. This REOI is not a tender process. UNICEF does not require proposals at this stage; this request is seeking an expression of interest in participating in a future tender.
Interested institutions should complete and submit the EOI form, which is available on the UNICEF website, by December 4, 2020.
Please note: all UNICEF suppliers must comply with the UN Supplier Code of Conduct (see http://www.un.org/Depts/ptd/pdf/conduct_english.pdf for details).
